General Meetings
Our General Meetings are the best time to learn about upcoming CALESS events. They also provide a great opportunity for new and returning members to connect and build relationships. These meetings occur a few times each quarter.
Buddy
System
The Buddy System pairs mentors with mentees, fostering opportunities for shared learning and growth. This strengthens our familia bond and boosts retention by supporting academic, professional, and community engagement.
Study Lockdowns
Our Study Lockdowns provide a quiet and supportive study environment for our students to be able to focus on their coursework. Students can often find others in the same class allowing them to collaborate.

Winter Retreat
Every year, CALESS hosts an unforgettable cabin trip in the snow. Filled with various fun and bonding activities, it brings our familia closer together. This event is often considered one of CALESS's most popular traditions. Past trips have been in Yosemite and Lake Tahoe.
Every MLK Weekend
SHPE Conference
As CALESS is affiliated with SHPE, our students have the opportunity to attend the largest annual gathering of Hispanic STEM students and professionals. This event empowers our members by providing access to internships, job opportunities, and skill building workshops for their professional growth.
Día/Noche
De Ciencias
Noche de Ciencias is a SHPE event that CALESS proudly hosts every winter to inspire and engage Hispanic and Latino students to pursue STEM. As a SHPE-affiliated organization, we collaborate with local high schools to provide interactive activities and presentation.

Science Extravaganza is a fully funded STEM field day held every spring at UC Davis, where minority middle and high school students engage in hands-on activities and explore STEM opportunities. This all-day event promotes STEM awareness and higher education within Latino communities.
